Council Brief

The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Statutory Public Meeting, Public Hearing, and the Regular Council Meeting held August 18, 2021:

Statutory Public Meeting:

  • Council received the Planning Report Respecting Zoning By-law Amendment (Temporary Use By-law) No. Z07-2021. Council passed By-law No. 77-21, Being a By-law to amend The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 85-18, as amended, to permit a temporary school (classroom) and a temporary office for a period of 2 years, at 17 Bernier Way.

Public Hearing Meeting:

  • Council passed By-law No.  76-21, Being a By-law to Permanently Close, Declare Surplus and Authorize the Sale of a Highway adjacent to the property of Mr. Kevin Chabbert. Council approved the purchase of the land by Mr. Kevin Chabbert.

Regular Council Meeting

  • Council passed By-law No. 73-21, Being a By-law to Amend By-law No. 50-05, Being a By-law to Adopt Personnel Policies for the Municipality of Sioux Lookout (adoption of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Policies), and further, Council received the 2021-2026 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for the Municipality of Sioux Lookout as attached to the Human Resources Manager’s Report.
  • Council passed By-law No. 75-21, Being a By-law to Deem the Lots located at 1820 Southshore Drive and 1772 Southshore Drive not be within a registered Plan of Subdivision
  • Council passed By-law No. 78-21, Being a By-law to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute a Contribution Agreement The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada for the Regional Air Transportation Initiative (funding for the Municipal Airport).
  • Council passed By-law No. 79-21, Being a By-law to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute an Agreement Between The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages to Extend Municipal Services to the Edge of the Hillcrest Development Site.
  • Council passed By-law No. 89-21, Being a By-law to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute a Transfer Payment Agreement Between The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and the Minister of Infrastructure for upgrades to the Municipal HVAC System.
  • Council passed By-law No. 82-21, Being a By-law to Establish a Purchasing and Disposal of Assets Policy for the Municipality and to rescind By-law No. 61-10.
  • Council directed staff to develop an operating and maintenance agreement with Michael Scott and the Hudson Dog Park Volunteer Group, for the creation, use, operations and maintenance of a Dog Park in Hudson.
  • By-law No. 74-21, Being a By-law to Rescind By-law No. 67-20, Being a By-law to amend the Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 85-18, as Amended.
