The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Statutory Public Meeting and Regular Council Meeting held Wednesday, October 20th, 2021:

  • At the Statutory Public Meeting: Council received a Planning Report respecting a Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z08-2021. Council passed By-Law No. 97-21, Being a By-law to amend By-law No. 85-18, A Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended (89 Voyageurs North Road East) at their Regular Council Meeting.
  • Council received a Planning Report respecting an Official Plan Amendment No. OP04-2021 and Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z09-2021 regarding the Sunset Inn, 10 First Avenue. Council passed By-law No. 99-21, Being a By-law to amend By-law No. 84-18, Being a By-law to Adopt an Official Plan for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended and passed By-law No. 98-21, to amend By-law No. 85-18, Being a Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended.
  • At the Regular Council Meeting, Darrell Morgan, Jamie Wisnoski and Alan Pizziol made a presentation regarding MPW Inc. developing condominiums on crown land overlooking MNR Beach Property to Council. The complex will feature three four-story apartment buildings with 16 units per building for seniors and professionals.
  • Peter Paine and Mitchell Woolley of PSD Citywide made a Municipal Drinking Water & Sewer System Presentation to Council.
  • Council received and approved the Water and Sewer Financial Plan and that the plan be submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. Council directed staff to publish a notice of the Financial Plan in the local newspaper and on the Municipality’s website.
  • Council authorized and directed staff to submit a Phase 2 Application to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) under the Community Enhancement Program – Rural Enhancement stream for the Umfreville Recreation Trail Reconstruction project.
  • Council directed staff to undertake an update to the Municipality’s plan to recognize the Cultural Heritage Feature known locally as the “Pioneer Cemetery” located West of the CN Iron Bridge.
  • Council endorsed Councillor Joyce Timpson for the position of ROMA Zone 10 Representative of the 2019-2023 ROMA Board, for the remainder of the Board term.
  • Council passed By-law No.103-21, Being a By-law to Dissolve Ward 1 (Hudson), the only remaining ward within the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, Effective for the 2022 General Municipal election.
