Sioux Lookout, ON - The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is strengthening its flood response capabilities through funding from Hydro One’s Community Partnership Grant. The funds supported the purchase of critical equipment that will help the municipality improve flood response times to better protect key infrastructure.
The flood mitigation equipment includes two water pumps with portable power sources, along with crates to keep hoses and connectors organized and ready for deployment. The two kits can be deployed where needed, particularly in locations where sandbagging alone may not be sufficient. If the equipment is deployed in a residential area, the portable power sources can also provide an additional source of power for nearby residents.
Through its Community Partnership Grant, Hydro One partners with Ontario municipalities and municipally endorsed organizations to support local priorities and fund initiatives that strengthen infrastructure, enhance emergency preparedness and help build safer, more resilient communities. By investing in projects identified by communities themselves, the program delivers meaningful local benefits and contributes to long-term community resilience.
