Boating and Fishing

Fishing

Sioux Lookout is a what anglers dream about. Surrounded by stunning lakes, sheltered bays and sandy beaches, an exceptional fishing expedition is all but guaranteed. Visitors have plenty of campgrounds, cabins, full service lodges, and fly-in fishing experiences to choose from. You bring your passion for fishing, we'll handle the rest.

The Sioux Lookout Master Angler Program is non-profit initiative driven by volunteers. It focuses on conservation through a Catch and Live Release Program.

The Master Angler Program celebrates standout anglers each year, who participate in the Program by submitting numerous releases in each species category.

Important Notice About Account and Login Information

We’ve received a few questions regarding account access for 2026 Boat Launch Permits, so we wanted to provide some clarification to help make the process easier.

If you purchased a Boat Launch Permit last year, you already have an account in the OPS-COM system. Please DO NOT create a new account, as the system may recognize your information and block duplicate accounts from being created. Instead, you will need to:
✔ Use the email address or username associated with your account from last year. If you do not know the email address or username connected to your account, you will need to contact us so we can assist you in getting that information.
✔ Create/reset your password
✔ Review and update your account information before purchasing your permit

If you did NOT receive an email from: [email protected] OR [email protected] this may mean the email address on your account is outdated or incorrect, the email may have gone to your junk/spam folder.

Important: If you choose not to provide an email address and instead use only a username, please ensure you remember your username and password. Without it, password recovery becomes much more difficult, and you may need to contact staff for assistance regaining access to your account.

If you are unable to access your account, the easiest solution is to contact us directly so we can help update your information. You can: call or visit the Recreation Centre or Municipal Office or emailing [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].

Didn't purchase a pass in 2025? As a new user, please refer to the helpful video tutorials below to guide you through creating your account.

Thank you for your patience as we continue working through the second-year rollout of the new parking pass system. Once account information is updated this season, future renewals should be much smoother for everyone.

Municipal boat Launches are maintained and operated by the Sioux Lookout Recreation and Culture Department. Whether you are fishing off the dock, launching a boat, or just parking, all Municipal Boat Launches require a parking permit.

Please note that there is no garbage collection at boat launches.
Take your garbage with you for proper disposal to keep our waters clean and beautiful.

Enforcement begins on the Friday before the third Saturday in May and continues until Thanksgiving Monday in October each year. (weather permitting)
