Chief Mechanic
- Certificate of Qualification for Motor Vehicle Mechanic AND Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic.
- Ministry of Transportation Vehicle Inspector License.
- Valid Class “DZ” license required (Class “AZ” preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of progressive heavy equipment mechanics experience.
- Provides mentorship to the Apprentice Mechanic
- Services attachments such as blades, plows, winches, and side booms.

CUPE Local 2141 • $41.91 per hour • 40 hrs per week
Truck and Coach Technician
- Certificate of Qualification for Truck and Coach Technician (310T)
- Class “DZ” license preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a licensed technician.
- Conducts annual safety inspections on trucks and trailers, and performs minor welding repairs.
- Also services light-duty trucks (1/2-ton) and accepts direction from the Chief Mechanic.
- Performs diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on tandem and single-axle trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
CUPE Local 2141 • $40.79 per hour • 40 hrs per week
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain municipal heavy-duty vehicles and equipment used for road maintenance, construction, snow removal, and material handling.
- Use computerized and manual testing equipment to identify mechanical faults and required repairs.
- Adjust and replace defective parts, components, or systems using the appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform routine servicing, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
- Respond to emergency or roadside repairs on occasion.
- Promote and demonstrate workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate records and a clean, organized workshop
