Sioux Lookout, ON – The Municipality of Sioux Lookout advises residents that the playground and swing set area located at the Travel Information Centre (11 First Avenue South) will be temporarily closed from July 20 to July 24 to allow for the installation of new rubber safety matting.

This upgrade is part of the Municipality's ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, accessible, and enjoyable recreational spaces for children and families. The new rubber surfacing will provide a durable, slip-resistant play surface that enhances safety and accessibility while reducing maintenance requirements.

For the safety of the public and construction crews, the playground and swing set area will be closed throughout the duration of the installation. Residents are asked to respect all barricades and signage and refrain from entering the work area until the project is complete.

“Our parks and playgrounds are important gathering spaces for families and visitors to Sioux Lookout. This upgrade will help keep children safe while they play,” said CAO & Municipal Clerk, Brian MacKinnon. “We’re proud to continue improving spaces that families use every day.”

Weather or unforeseen construction delays may affect the project schedule. Any changes to the reopening date will be communicated through the Municipality's official communication channels.

The Municipality appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed and looks forward to welcoming families back to an upgraded play space later this month.
