Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
Nominations in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout for the offices of
Mayor (Head of Council) – One (1)
Councillors, At Large – Six (6)List of School Board Positions
English Public - Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (1)List of School Board Positions shared with other Municipalities
English Separate - The Northwest Catholic District School Board (2)
French Public - Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario (1)
French Separate - Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores Boréales (1)
may be made by completing and filing in the Office of the Clerk, nominations on the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, debit card, certified cheque, or money order (Credit Cards will not be accepted).
A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) between Friday, May 1, 2026 and Thursday, August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).
In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed in the Office of the Clerk.
Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, voting will be opened on the dates stated below for the purpose of voting.
The voting period is: Monday, October 19, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. via telephone and internet voting methods, as authorized by Council per By-law No. 25-25, Being a By-law Relating to 2026 Election Matters.
Voting assistance will be provided at the Municipal Office during the voting period, and specific institutions and organizations will have voting assistance provided, on-site, on specific dates to be determined. More details will be announced upon confirmation of venues, dates and times.
