The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Regular Council Meeting held April 15, 2026:
- Delegation: Judy Kleinhuis of Doane Grant Thornton LLP presented the 2024 Consolidated Audited Financial Statements.
- Purpose: To provide information on the Municipality’s financial activities for the year ended December 31, 2024. The Municipality, once again, received a “clean audit.”
- Council adopted the 2024 Municipal Consolidated Audited Financial Statements as presented by Doane Grant Thornton LLP.
- Purpose: To formally adopt the 2024 Consolidated Financial Statements and the Municipality’s Trust Funds’ Financial Statements.
- Council directed staff to award grants and incentives through the Community Improvement Plan and to enter into an agreement for disbursement of these funds to the following successful applicants: Sioux Physiotherapy Clinic, Sioux Lookout Non-profit Housing Corporation, The Wills Building and the Royal Canadian Legion.
- Purpose: To provide financial incentives for local business that encourages beautification and improvement of Sioux Lookout business and retail areas.
- Council passed By-law No. 26-26, Being a By-law to Authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to Enter into and Execute the Municipal Funding Agreement for the Transfer of Dedicated Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation Program Between The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario as Represented by the Minister of Transportation for the Province of Ontario.
- Purpose: To receive funding that supports public transportation. This funding will be used for the Hub Transit service.
- Council passed By-law No. 20-26, A By-law of The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux lookout to Authorize Long-Term Borrowing Pursuant to The Issue of Debentures to Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation (OILC) in the Principal Amount of $2,527,666.00 Towards the Cost of the Capital Work(s).
- Purpose: To receive Council approval to convert the construction loan from Front Street and Third Avenue Infrastructure upgrades into a 25-year debenture.
- Council passed By-law No. 25-26, Being a By-law to Establish a Municipal Service Board named “The Hudson Recreation, Leisure, and Community Events Commission”, in Accordance with The Municipal Act, 2001, As Amended and To Establish The Terms of Reference and Mandate for the Commission.
- Purpose: To create “The Hudson Recreation, Leisure & Community Events Commission” and to establish its mandate.
- Council passed By-law No. 24-26 Being a By-law to Set Remuneration to be Paid to Members of Council, and to Rescind By-law No. 47-22.
- Purpose: To enable Council to set the remuneration to be paid to Members of Council for the 2026-2030 Council Term.
