The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is seeking a skilled Chief Mechanic to join our Public Works team. This hands-on role plays a key part in keeping our municipal fleet running safely and reliably, working alongside a supportive and experienced team.

What are we looking for
- Licensed Heavy Duty and Motor Vehicle Mechanic
- Valid Class DZ licence (AZ is an asset)
- 5+ years of related experience
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
- Able to work independently and manage workload
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Municipal or fleet experience is an asset
- Detail-oriented with good record-keeping skills
- Able to read technical manuals
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willing to mentor others
- Physically able to meet job demands
What will you be doing
- Maintain and repair municipal fleet and heavy equipment
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Repair or replace parts and components as needed
- Service equipment attachments (plows, blades, etc.)
- Respond to occasional after-hours/emergency repairs
- Keep maintenance records and report issues
- Maintain a clean and safe shop
- Support fleet reliability and operations
- Mentor an Apprentice Mechanic
- Follow all health and safety practices
