Take notice that the Municipality of Sioux Lookout has initiated the process to review and update the Municipal Official Plan in accordance with Section 26 and the Zoning By-law in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.

Times: First Session – 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Second Session 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Location: The Royal Canadian Legion (Upper Hall), 86 Front Street, Sioux Lookout, Ontario
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The purpose of the Open House meetings is to provide members of the public an opportunity to learn about the proposed updates to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law documents. Members of the public are welcome to attend the open house sessions to review material and ask questions to municipal staff and the land use planning consultant in order to provide valuable input to the land use planning documents.
All comments will be reviewed and considered through the process – written comments are encouraged and can be submitted to the email contact on this notice.
WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL PLAN?
The Official Plan sets out where and how the Municipality will grow over the next 25 years and establishes the framework for future decisions related to land use planning development. The Official Plan outlines what is generally permitted within each land use designation and includes associated policies. The Official Plan requires updating as there have been changes to Provincial policies and legislation since the Official Plan was last updated and adopted by Council.

WHAT IS A ZONING BY-LAW?
A Zoning By-law is a legal document and implements the policies of an Official Plan. The Zoning By-law is more prescript and includes permitted uses, regulations and standards for each zone category. The document establishes where buildings and structures can be located, the types of buildings and structures permitted, how buildings and land can be used, lot sizes and dimensions, parking requirements, building heights and setbacks.
