The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Statutory Public Meeting and Regular Council Meeting held August 12, 2026:
- Council received the Planning Report dated August 12, 2026, regarding the Official Plan Amendment OP01-2026 and Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z02-2026 – 96-98 Third Street, Hudson, at the Statutory Public Meeting.
- Council passed By-law No. 45-26, to amend the Official Plan for the Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended, for OP01-2026, at the Regular Council Meeting.
- Council passed By-law No.46-26, Being a By-law to Amend the Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended, for Zoning By-law Application No. Z02-2026, at the Regular Council Meeting.
- Purpose: To amend both the Official Plan and Zoning By-law which would allow for a duplex to be built on the subject property.
- Council received Planning Report dated August 12, 2026, respecting Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z03-2026 – 25 Fair Street, at the Statutory Public Meeting.
- Council passed By-law No.47-26, Being a By-law to Amend the Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended, for Application No. Z03-2026, at the Regular Council Meeting.
- Purpose: To rezone the subject property from Institutional Zone to a site-specific Residential Type Two Exception Zone which legalizes an existing triplex.
- Council received Planning Report dated August 12, 2026, respecting Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z04-2026 – 624 Drayton Road, at the Statutory Public Meeting.
- Council passed By-law No.48-26, Being a By-law to Amend the Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, as amended, for Application No. Z04-2026, at the Regular Council Meeting.
- Purpose: To amend the Residential Shoreline Exception Four (RS-4) Zone to recognize an additional existing fabric-covered accessory structure that was constructed.
- Council received Planning Report dated August 12, 2026, respecting Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z05-2026, 60 & 62 Seventh Avenue.
- Council passed By-law No. 49-26, Being a By-law to amend the Comprehensive Zoning By-law for The Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
- Purpose: To allow for the development of a fourplex on the subject property.
- Council passed By-law No.53-26, Being a By-law to Regulate the Use of Fireworks within the Municipality of Sioux Lookout; and authorized that the Set Fines Schedule be submitted to the Ministry of the Attorney General for approval.
- Purpose: To regulate the use of fireworks within the Municipality that addresses public safety, nuisance noise, property protection, wildfire prevention on municipal lands and crown land within the municipal boundaries, enforcement and public education.
- Council received the Planning report dated August 12, 2026, regarding the property locally known as 788 Highway 72.
- Purpose: To provide Council with information regarding the process required to remove a Holding (H) Symbol from a property, as regulated under the Planning Act. The report also presented staff’s recommendations to facilitate the removal of the Holding (H) Symbol.
- Council awarded contracts to T.Y. Lin International Canada Inc. for the pedestrian crossover work in the amount of $49,600 plus HST and to Advantage Data Collection for the sign assessment framework, inventory and assets management plan in the amount of $42,200 plus HST, and authorized staff to transfer $91,800 from the Roads Reserve to fund the required work.
- Purpose: To allocate funds to facilitate the implementation of the new Traffic and Parking Control By-law.
- Council approved the creation of the Sioux Lookout Community Beautification Committee.
- Purpose: To establish a committee to identify and recommend beautification initiatives that would enhance municipal and public spaces, promote civic pride and improve the overall appearance of the community.
- Council approved the creation of Sioux Lookout Museum Committee.
- Purpose: To establish a committee to review the former Sioux Lookout Museum collection and make recommendations for its preservation, display and use within the community.
