2025/2026 Municipal Department Holiday Office Closures

Please note the following Municipal Department closures over the holiday season. The closures are reflective of changes in regularly scheduled hours. Departments that would normally be closed on weekends will remain closed on weekends during this period. 

Airport Administration Offices

• Closed December 25 and 26, 2025. 
• Open December 29 through 31, 2025.
• Closed January 1, 2026. Reopening January 2, 2026.

Emergency Services Administrative Offices

• Closed December 24, 2025, through January 2, 2026. Reopening January 5, 2026.

Municipal Administration Offices (25 Fifth Avenue) 

• Closed December 22 through 26, 2025. Reopening December 29, 2025.
• Closed January 1, 2026. Reopening January 2, 2026.
  • Includes CAO Office, Corporate Services/Clerk’s Department, Development Services Department, Finance Department, and Human Resources Department

Public Works Department

• Public Works Operations – Closed December 24 at 2:00 p.m., 25, and 26. Open December 29, 30, and 31. 
  Closed January 1, 2026. Reopening January 2, 2026.
• Hidden Lake Landfill - Closed at 2:00 p.m. on December 24 through December 26. 
  Open December 27, 30, and 31. Closed January 1, 2026. Reopening January 2, 2026.
• Garbage and Recycling Collection 
  • Wednesday, December 24th - regular garbage collection as well as Thursday's recycling collection AND Thursday and Friday’s garbage collection.
    • Landfill closed at 2:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 25th - no garbage or recycling collection, landfill closed.
  • Friday, December 26th - no garbage collection, landfill closed.
  • Saturday, December 27th – Landfill open.
  • Thursday, January 1st - no garbage collection, landfill closed.
  • Friday, January 2nd - regular garbage collection and Thursday's garbage collection, landfill open.

Recreation and Culture Department 

• Recreation Centre/Arena – Closed December 24, 25, 26, and 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026. 
  Open regular hours December 27 through 30, 2025, and starting January 2, 2026.

Sioux Lookout Public Library

• Closed December 24, 2025, through January 1, 2026. 
• Open January 2, 2026, for Family Time from 10:00 a.m. until Noon
• Open to the public January 2, 2026, from Noon until 5:00 p.m.

Sioux Lookout Hydro (25 Fifth Avenue) 

• Closed December 22 through 26, 2025. 
• Closed January 1, 2026. Reopening January 2, 2026.
