Local traffic and emergency services will be permitted through the closure.

Please be advised that Birch Avenue, Beech Avenue, Pine Avenue, and Forest Drive will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to allow crews to complete chip and seal road maintenance in the area. A temporary road closure will be in effect on September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the Truth and Reconciliation March.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes where possible.
Please note that the Municipality of Sioux Lookout observes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th, as a holiday. Municipal Offices and facilities will be closed, excluding the airport terminal.
Garbage pickup scheduled for September 30th will take place on October 1st.
Hidden Lake Landfill will also be closed on September 30th.
Please be advised that the pedestrian trail along Highway 72, near the MNR access road, will be temporarily closed during construction of the Highway 72 Water and Sanitary Sewer Servicing Extension.
The trail closure is expected to remain in place until the end of October 2026, depending on construction progress and site conditions.
