The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is looking for a reliable and skilled Truck and Coach Technician to join our Public Works team. This is a hands-on role where your work keeps essential municipal equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What are we looking for
- Licensed Truck and Coach or Automotive Technician (able to get Truck & Coach certification within 1 year)
- 5+ years’ experience on heavy vehicles and equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, using computerized and manual diagnostics
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and service specs.
- Knowledge of health & safety practices and commitment to a safe work environment.
- Works independently and in a team
- Good judgment in emergencies and decision-making under pressure
- DZ license preferred; WHMIS & First Aid
What will you be doing
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain municipal trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Conduct annual safety inspections, routine servicing, and preventive maintenance
- Adjust, replace, and test vehicle parts to meet manufacturer specifications
- Respond to emergency repair needs and perform minor welding as required
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and maintenance work
- Assist in mentoring the Chief Mechanic and Apprentice Mechanic
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Promote professionalism and positive interactions with colleagues and the public
