The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is looking for a reliable and skilled Truck and Coach Technician to join our Public Works team. This is a hands-on role where your work keeps essential municipal equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What are we looking for

  • Licensed Truck and Coach or Automotive Technician (able to get Truck & Coach certification within 1 year)
  • 5+ years’ experience on heavy vehicles and equipment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, using computerized and manual diagnostics
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and service specs.
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Works independently and in a team
  • Good judgment in emergencies and decision-making under pressure
  • DZ license preferred; WHMIS & First Aid

What will you be doing

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain municipal trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Conduct annual safety inspections, routine servicing, and preventive maintenance
  • Adjust, replace, and test vehicle parts to meet manufacturer specifications
  • Respond to emergency repair needs and perform minor welding as required
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and maintenance work
  • Assist in mentoring the Chief Mechanic and Apprentice Mechanic
  • Keep the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
  • Promote professionalism and positive interactions with colleagues and the public
