The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Statutory Public Meeting and the Regular Council Meeting held December 15, 2021:

  • At the Statutory Public Meeting, Council received the Planning Report respecting M & M Sewage Disposal Ltd Official Plan Amendment Application No. OP05-2021 and Zoning By-law Amendment Application No. Z10-2021; and directed staff to prepare a subsequent Planning Report to present to Council at a future Council Meeting, considering the feedback received at the December 15, 2021 Statutory Public Meeting.
  • At the Regular Council Meeting Mayor Lawrance congratulated the following staff members and thanked them for their dedicated service:

  • Council passed By-law No. 116-21 to Provide for the 2022 Interim Tax Levy and Late Payment charges and approved the 2022 Interim Tax Levy.
  • Council passed By-law No. 117-21 to Authorize the Temporary Borrowing of Monies to Meet the Current Expenditures of The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
  • Council passed By-law No. 115-21 to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute a Transfer Agreement Between the Municipality and Her Majesty the Queen, in Right of Ontario, as Represented by the Ministry of the Solicitor General (Victim Support Grant 2021-2023).
  • Council passed By-law No. 118-21 to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute a Contribution Agreement Between the Municipality and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), for the Hillcrest Development Project.
  • Council passed By-law No. 95-21 to Amend By-law No. 54-20 to Establish a Health and Safety Policy Manual for the Municipality and to Adopt Certain Health and Safety Policies, as amended (Recreation Centre Operations re: COVID-19).
  • Council provided direction to staff to include Members of Council, and Members of Council’s Boards, Commissions and Committees in the Municipal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
  • Council passed By-law No. 122-21, to amend By-law No. 54-20, Being a By-law to Establish a Health and Safety Policy Manual for the Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and to Adopt Certain Health and Safety Policies, as amended (COVID-19 Vaccination Policy)
  • A Notice of Motion was brought forward by Cllr. Joe Cassidy regarding Cedar Bay Development Plan requesting that staff be directed to create an Ad Hoc Committee of Council for the purpose of updating the Cedar Bay Development Plan through input from community organizations and the public. This will be discussed and a decision will be made at the January Regular Council Meeting.
  • Council approved amending Schedule “A” to By-law No. 92-18 to make Appointments to Various Boards, Commissions and Committees, by acknowledging the resignations from, and deleting:
    • Jamie MacLeod from the Environment Committee.
    • Candice Carter-Cecchetto from the Sioux Lookout Public Library Board.
