The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Regular Council Meeting held June 16th, 2021: 

  • Michael Scott made a presentation to Council for a Dog Park at the back half of the skating rink that has been blocked off from the main rink in Hudson. Mr. Scott has assembled a team of community volunteers who are looking to create a Dog Park and has asked for Council’s support on the project. A staff report will be coming forward at a subsequent meeting.
  • Council received the report outlining the Community Improvement Plan updates and provided direction to staff to implement all of the recommendations. The final updated CIP will be brought back to Council for approval.
  • Council authorized the 2020 Municipal surplus of $805,382 be allocated to the following areas:           
    • Emergency Services Project - $ 4,497.72
    • Bigwood Lake Development Traffic Impact Study - $ 25,000
    • Boat Launch Reserve - $ 41,747
    • Fleet Reserve (Recreation Department) - $ 50,000
    • Facilities Reserve (for Buildings) - $ 300,000
    • Infrastructure Reserve Fund - $ 384,140.28
  • Council passed By-law No. 53-21 to Execute a Contribution Agreement between the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for funding the Bigwood Lake Development Traffic Impact Study.
  • Council passed By-law No. 52-21, to Execute a Contribution agreement between the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for the Bigwood Lake Utilities Servicing Extension.
  • Council passed By-law No. 61-21, to Establish a Municipal Accommodation Tax and to rescind By-law No. 87-19 (essentially, making a few revisions to how the Municipal Accommodation Tax By-law is administered)
  • Council approved the Account Receivables write-offs pertaining to Kasper Aviation in the amount of $29,237.44.
  • Council passed By-law No. 54-21, to Execute Agreements and Documentation for the Sale of 108 & 112 Second Street, Hudson to James Scott Haines and Elsie Derouin.
  • Council passed By-law No. 55-21, to Execute the Transfer of 108 &112 Second Street, Hudson to James Scott Haines and Elsie Derouin.
  • Council passed By-law No. 59-21 to Deem Lots 73,74,75 & 76 on Plan M232 to not be on a Registered Plan of Subdivision.
  • Council passed By-law No. 62-21, to Execute the Municipal Accommodation Tax Agreement between the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and The Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce.
