Q: Where are the cemeteries located?

A: Northway and Sacred Heart Cemeteries are found along West Point Cove Road, at the end of Eighth Avenue. Hillcrest Cemetery is found at the end of Hillcrest Drive, immediately behind Sunset Inn and Suites, off Highway 72.

Q: How do I go about placing a monument (headstone) on a loved one's lot?

A: There are size and content restrictions on monuments. A contract must be signed, and payment of ground preparation and Care & Maintenance fees must be paid prior to erecting a monument. Please contact the Cemeteries & Licensing Coordinator for details.

Q: I know relatives are buried in one of Sioux Lookout's cemeteries. Can I find out where?

A: Usually, yes. Contact the Cemeteries & Licensing Coordinator. It will be helpful if you know the name and/or date of death or interment of the individual whose lot you are trying to locate.

Q: I am planning for my future. Can I purchase a lot in advance?

A: Yes. The Municipality sells Interment Rights 'pre-need'. Contact the Cemeteries & Licensing Coordinator for details on purchasing Interment Rights.

Q: What are the sizes of lots?

A: Full lots measure 120" by 42" in Sacred Heart and Northway Cemeteries and 120" by 48" in Hillcrest Cemetery. While burial of cremated remains is allowed in all cemeteries, the sizes of lots or graves vary. Cremation graves are only available in Hillcrest; however, cremation graves are available within adult lots in all three cemeteries.
