Call For Applications To Fill Vacancy On Council
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO FILL
VACANCY ON COUNCIL
A vacancy exists on the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout due to the resignation of one of the Councillors.
Council has chosen to fill the vacancy by appointment, which must be made no later than May 17, 2010.
Council is looking for members of the public who may be interested in filling the vacancy and will be accepting applications for the position. This provides an opportunity for citizens contemplating running for Council in the October 25, 2010 election to have a "trial run."
In accordance with The Municipal Elections Act, a person is entitled to hold a seat on Council if he or she:
1) resides in, or is the owner or tenant of land, or the spouse of an
owner or tenant, in the Municipality;
2) is a Canadian citizen;
3) is at least 18 years old; and
4) is not prohibited from voting under The Municipal Elections Act
or any other law.
Eligible persons interested in filling the Council vacancy are requested to submit, in person, a letter by 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010, indicating the reason for your interest and any related experience to: Linda Spence, Deputy Clerk, or Mary L. MacKenzie, Clerk, Municipality of Sioux Lookout, 25 Fifth Avenue, Sioux Lookout. Identification and proof of citizenship will be required to be submitted with the application letter.
