RInC PROJECTS RECREATION INFRASTRUCTURE CANADA PROGRAM |
Recreational Infrastructure Canada program infrastructure fund invested in recreational facilities across Canada over a 2-year period as a national initiative to provide temporary economic stimulus to help reduce the impacts of a global recession while renewing, updrading, and expanding recreational infrastructures in Canadian communties. In 2009, the Municipality, in conjuction with a number of partners, submitted applications to the programs for the following projects:

YORK STREET/SOUTH-EAST WATER & SEWER CRITICAL LINK |
$1,622,082 project funded by Ontario Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative and roadway from road reserves for the replacement of critically undersized and 70 year plus old water main and sewer main and rehabilitation of road over newly installed infrastructure to ensure adequate supply of potable water is available to both existing and new users on the south-east section of Sioux Lookout townsite and to improve drainage of York Street area. Completed in fall of 2009 and in operation. |

AIRPORT WATER & SEWER |
Project provided Municipal water and sewer servicing at the Industrial and Commercial Parks located at the Sioux Lookout Municipal Airport, the surrounding area and buildings. Completed late fall 2010 and in operation. Opened the area for future commercial development adjacent to the airport. |

HIGHWAY 72 WATER & SEWER |
Project to provide water and sewer servicing along the Highway 72 corridor for development of residential and commercial uses and for services to a new MNR complex at the MNR fire base. Completed in fall of 2009 and in operation. New developments are required to connect into the services. |
