PROJECT DESCRIPTION |
The project contains two components comprised of Sanitary Sewer System and Road upgrades along the Seventh Avenue sewermain corridor to create efficiencies in handling wastewater, increase trunkline size creating additonal capacity for development and growth currently proposed for the north end of the municipality. Nearly all of Sioux Lookout's sewage is directed to the Robert Street Pumping Station and from there it is redirected to the Sewage Treatment Plant. The Pumping Station is approaching capacity and additional development may dictate an upgrade to the facility. The Municipality requires to either increase the capacity of the pumping station or decrease the amount of sewage being directed at the Pumping Station. The project includes the installation of 1350m of new sanitary sewermain to the Sewage Treatment Plant and completely bypass the existing Pumping Station. As the Waste Water Treatment Plant is located downstream, but separated by bedrock, the bedrock will be removed and a gravity sewermain will be installed. this one-time cost will save capital upgrade dollars to the Pumping Station and will save the municipality operating and maintenance costs due to a reduced pumping load. Seventh Avenue will be rehabilitated along the replaced sewermain corridor as well as upgrades along Seventh Avenue past the new hospital entrance site. The rehabilitation will include sidewalks, curb and gutter and stormwater collection in lieu of roadside ditches. The boulevards will receive a finish treatment of topsoil and grass. A Traffic Study will also be conducted to determine what measures are required to ensure adequate traffic flow and pedestrian safety. |
